Happy Fourth of July

Wishing all a happy Fourth of July — the weather is delicious and so are all of the summer fruits. The fourth is not a favorite holiday around the Smith househould where I will find at least two dogs shivering behind the sofa. In response I adjust the television volume up, up, up while whisteling Yankee Doodle Dandy.

The Meridian fireworks all zoom right over the house, rattling the windows and causing general chaos and fright.

There are some excellent tips at the HSUS website for keeping your pets comfortable and safe during the Fourth (just click HSUS) or you might prefer to watch the video.

Happy Fourth - please keep Sparky away from any fireworks displays, a dog can be very quickly overwhelmed by those activities. Instead why don’t you keep Liberty at home and send me a photo of your patriotic pet?

Walk The Dog!

Walking the dog not only benefits your dog’s physical and emotional health - it improves your own.

In case we needed actual evidence of that fact - a study was just released which reveals the following information.

Dog owners who walk their dogs are more active and have less body fat than non-walkers. Dog ownership was associated with higher levels of self-reported leisure time physical activity in the study, which examined differences in physical activity, weight status and neighborhood environment walkability and income between dog owners and non-dog owners.

Welcome to the new, improved Good Dog! Training website. The goals of the site are to keep clients updated on the latest classes, services and dog training information.

The community section, including the blog, is a place to stay in touch with one another and what’s happening for Lansing dogs and their owners.

Please take some time to look around the website - sent me photos of your pet or do some shopping.

Good Dog! Training is offering a new summer full of classes. You can now download the June/July class schedule, as well as register for classes right on line.
